aideRSS is an ‘intelligent assistant‘ that saves time and keeps you on top of the latest news. Their creators claim to ‘research every story and filter out the noise, allowing you to focus on what matters most‘.

The holy grail of the web, or every blogger’s wet dream, is to be able to “read whats important”. In the case of this service, seems like their sense for “whats important” is relying completely on existing ranks and services, such as blogger, technorati, etc. I couldn’t find any way to personalize and specify MY interests. I don’t care if the whole web is talking about LOLcats and oscar the cat of death. To the best of my understanding, this service simply merging several existing web-services into one easy-to-use interface, the typical web2.0-ish dream service – one page to rule them all!
I claim that more thought needs to be placed on personalized filtering. On giving users better tools to create filters which help them save time trying to read what’s important to them. There is way too much information out there, and not good enough tools to consume efficiently. As much as I like google reader and netvibes, there’s still tons of work to be done, before we can tackle the sheer amounts of information we get from feeds.
